SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) — The mother of a Maine man who was shot in the head with a pellet gun says he began showing signs of life less than an hour after a priest read him his last rites at the hospital.
Lauri Quimby tells the Bangor Daily News a doctor said her 19-year-old son Charles Quimby wouldn't live Sunday. But instead, she says he started moving shortly after the priest arrived.
Lauri Quimby says the pellet is still lodged in her son's head as of Tuesday, but he is breathing on his own and able to speak to doctors.
Police say a 20-year-old man shot Charles Quimby Sunday in Skowhegan.
The shooting is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
