QUEBEC (AP) _ Meghann Shaughnessy won her first title of the year, defeating Iva Majoli of Croatia 6-1, 6-3 Sunday to capture the Bell Challenge.
The top-seeded American had 15 aces and overpowered an opponent who had trouble with her serve. Shaughnessy won in 55 minutes.
``Everything seemed to click today _ serving, returning, attacking,'' she said.
Majoli, seeded fourth, committed nine double faults. She lost to Shaughnessy for the second time this year following a defeat at Wimbledon.
``I was missing a lot of first serves,'' Majoli said. ``I was tired, my legs were not moving as they should have. I was expecting myself to play better.''
