GIRONA, Spain (AP) _ A car bomb exploded in a residential area of this city in northeastern Spain on Saturday, killing at least one person, a news report said.

The bomb exploded at 11 p.m. local time in the Rosas district of Girona, Spanish National Radio reported. The radio station said the victim may have been a local police officer.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the armed Basque separatist group ETA has regularly used car bombs in its 33-year-old campaign for Basque independence.
