OAK BROOK, Ill. (AP) _ TreeHouse Foods Inc. (THS) on Thursday reported a loss of $20.1 million in its second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company said it had a loss of 36 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 37 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 25 cents per share.

The food maker posted revenue of $1.46 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.4 billion.

TreeHouse expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.05 to $2.35 per share, with revenue in the range of $5.8 billion to $6 billion.

TreeHouse shares have dropped 5 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 43 percent in the last 12 months.
