Mateus goal earns Omiya 2-2 draw with Urawa in J-League

SAITAMA, Japan (AP) — Brazilian Mateus scored an equalizer midway through the second half as Omiya Ardija earned a 2-2 draw with Urawa Reds in the J-league on Sunday.
Urawa was bidding for its fourth straight win but Mateus dashed those hopes with a superb left-footed shot from 19 meters in the 67th minute.
Urawa took the lead in the 37th on Yosuke Kashiwagi's free kick from 21 meters.
Ataru Esaka leveled in first-half stoppage time but Yuki Muto restored the lead for the hosts 14 minutes after the break.
Yokohama F Marinos and defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima also finished in a 2-2 draw while Kawasaki Frontale and Jubilo Iwata ended 1-1.
Reds, Yokohama and Kawasaki are all on 10 points after four rounds of the second stage of the season.
In other matches, first-stage champions Kashima Antlers were held to a 3-3 draw by relegation-threatened Ventforet Kofu, while Vissel Kobe beat Shonan Bellmare 2-0.
Gamba Osaka settled for a goalless draw with last-place Avispa Fukuoka.
Kashiwa Reysol edged FC Tokyo 1-0, Vegalta Sendai beats Albirex Niigata 2-1 and Sagan Tosu versus Nagoya Grampus ended in a goalless draw.
The winners of each stage and top three clubs of the aggregate table will qualify for the championship in November.
