Lions' Reggie Brown: Much Improved
Jan. 07, 1998
DETROIT (AP) _ Detroit Lions linebacker Reggie Brown has made considerable progress since he received a neck injury on the field in December, doctors said.
``I can tell you that all of us on the treatment staff are impressed by his progress,'' Dr. Russ Nockels of Henry Ford Hospital said today.
Brown, 23, walked to the podium in a neck brace known as a halo to tell everyone that he is doing well.
``When it first happened I thought I'd never be able to walk again ... but like I said, I wanted to let everyone know that I'm OK, that I will once again be back to normal, and I'm real thankful for all the cards and get well wishings and blessings. It all counted and kept me in good spirits throughout this whole things,'' Brown said.
Doctors said his progress has been remarkable considering he was unable to move his arms, legs or breathe on his own at the time of the injury.
