OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ ConAgra Foods Inc.'s chief executive made four times more money in fiscal year 2002 than a year earlier as the multifoods company posted higher earnings.
Bruce Rohde's $950,267 salary, $2.9 million bonus, $1.9 million long-term incentive payments and $5.6 million in stock options added up to a package worth more than $11 million.
That compares with a compensation package worth $2.7 million in 2001, including a $950,472 salary, no bonus, no long-term compensation and $1.8 million in stock options, according to a proxy statement filed Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
ConAgra's profits increased 23 percent in the fiscal year ended May 26, from $638 million to $783 million. Rohde's bonus was based on earnings per share, which increased from $1.24 in 2001 to $1.47 in 2002.
In trading Friday on the New York Stock Exchange, ConAgra shares gained 3 cents to close at $26.23.
