Install a DIY accent wall
Apr. 12, 2016
A wall covered with planks of reclaimed wood looks rustic and stylish, and now there's an easy way to install one. The new Artis Wall, designed by Waddell Manufacturing, is a kit that lets you create an accent wall without hiring a contractor - or even using a hammer and nails.
The wood is collected from old barns and buildings across the country, then de-nailed and kiln-dried. It ships in boxes that contain enough planks to cover a 20-square-foot wall.

When you order, you receive a box of wooden planks and a set of adhesive strips. With a straight edge and a utility knife, you can cut the planks to size, then use the strips to attach them to the wall. Everything's removable (and reusable), so you can take down your accent wall when you move or remodel.
Artis Wall started out as a Kickstarter project; it was funded last month, and orders are being shipped to initial investors now. In early May, Artis Wall will start selling the kits online. Price is $269 (includes shipping) per box; learn more at artiswall.com.
