AMITE CITY, La. (AP) — Authorities say rabbit hunters found human remains in a wooded area in Louisiana.

A Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office news release says the hunters found the remains Monday morning. Investigators believe the remains are of a middle-aged man.

News outlets report the skeletal remains have not been positively identified, and that the cause of death is under investigation.

The remains have been sent to the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services lab in Baton Rouge for analysis.
