NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The suspect in a Tennessee hatchet killing was found competent last month to stand trial for a U.S. Secret Service arrest near the White House in April. According to a Washington federal court document, a psychologist found Domenic Micheli "alert, cooperative, and very pleasant," saying issues possibly present when he was arrested in April "may have abated." DICKSON, Tenn. — A Tennessee sheriff's sergeant fatally shot while responding to a call will be laid to rest. Dickson County Sgt. Daniel Baker's funeral was being held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Dickson. Will be updated after funeral.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee has finalized a $1.33 million settlement with ousted chancellor Beverly Davenport, formally ending her employment after a tumultuous tenure lasting less than a year and a half. The school's audit and compliance committee held a conference call Tuesday, approving a separation agreement announced Friday. By Steve Megargee.

POLICE CHASE-FATAL SHOOTING, from WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A preliminary report finds that an eastern Arkansas police officer was justified in fatally shooting a man who led police on a chase on Interstate 40.
ROCKWELL AUTOMATION-INDIANA, from WHITESTOWN, Ind. — A company that specializes in industrial automation and information plans to establish operations in central Indiana to consolidate the work of existing distribution centers in Illinois and Tennessee.
HIGHWAY PATROL, from NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The new leader of the Tennessee Highway Patrol has assumed his new role with the agency, succeeding Col. Tracy Trott, who retired after 40 years in the post.
