Iverson Listed To Play
Feb. 19, 2002
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Allen Iverson was in the Philadelphia 76ers starting lineup against Denver on Monday despite a sprained right big toe.
Iverson, who sat out Philadelphia's 86-76 loss at Indiana on Sunday, was listed as out after the morning shootaround.
However, the 76ers will be without forwards Derrick Coleman and Corie Blount, both suspended for their roles in an altercation with Reggie Miller on Sunday.
Guard Aaron McKie also won't play because of a sprained left ankle.
``I don't know if that's a reason, but I'm sure it's in the back of his mind,'' Sixers coach Larry Brown said when asked if Iverson is playing because the team is short-handed.
Iverson, the NBA's reigning MVP, leads the league in scoring with a 30.3 average, steals (2.2) and minutes (44.0). He sprained his toe in Thursday's loss to Utah.
Iverson missed the first five games this season while recovering from right elbow surgery, and has sat out eight games. The 76ers are 0-8 in those games.
