Kenyan Admits Fixing Track Race

SEVILLE, Spain (AP) _ Bernard Barmasai lost his shot at a share of the $1 million Golden League jackpot today for saying he had colluded with a countryman to determine the result of a race.
An International Amateur Athletic Federation panel ruled Barmasai put ``athletics into disrepute'' by saying he had asked fellow Kenyan Christopher Koskei not to challenge his lead late in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Aug. 11 Weltklasse meet in Zurich, Switzerland.
The sport's world governing body considered stripping Barmasai of his victory in the race but let it stand, saying there was not enough evidence of collusion between the two runners.
