SAN MARINO (AP) _ Andrea Noe of Italy made a final breakaway with about half a mile left Wednesday and captured the 11th stage of the Tour of Italy for his first career win.

Noe finished seven seconds ahead of countryman Marco Pantani.

Alex Zuelle of Switzerland retained the overall leader's pink jersey. Halfway through the 22-stage race, Zuelle was five seconds ahead of Michele Bartoli and 50 seconds in front of Luc Leblanc.

Noe completed the 136 1/2-mile course from Macerata to the tiny mountain republic of San Marino in 5 hours, 12 minutes, 20 seconds.
