Man sent to prison for Massachusetts stabbing, carjacking

WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A Connecticut man has been sentenced to six to eight years in prison for a stabbing and carjacking in Massachusetts.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced on Friday that a Massachusetts judge in Woburn imposed the prison time on 23-year-old Chantha Chau of New London.
Chau was convicted last month of randomly stabbing Charles Northrup multiple times in the parking lot of a movie theater in Woburn in 2011 and fleeing in Northrup's car. Northrup recovered after having surgery for life-threatening injuries and being hospitalized for three weeks.
Police later recovered Northrup's car in New London and arrested Chau several months later in May 2012.
Ryan says Northrup was attacked while sitting in his car waiting for a friend to arrive at the theater so they could see a movie.
