SEYMOUR, Conn. (AP) — Police say a person crashed into a Connecticut police cruiser while officers were monitoring traffic.

The New Haven Register reports a Seymour police cruiser was hit by another car Sunday morning on Route 8, but officers were not in the vehicle at the time.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital. The Seymour Police Department says it would like to remind motorists to slow down and move over "when emergency personnel are performing their duties."

The cruiser was blocking a lane of the highway from traffic that had resulted from an earlier crash. Officials say there were several crashes on the road on Sunday.
