FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) _ John Williams scored 22 points and seven other Cleveland players were in double figures in a 134-114 victory over Charlotte Thursday night in an NBA exhibition game.
Williams hit 10 of 11 shots and the Cavaliers made 53 of 91, 58 percent. John Battle scored 17, Larry Nance and Danny Ferry had 13 each, Gerald Wilkins, Mark Price and Terrell Brandon scored 12 apiece and Brad Daugherty had 11 for the Cavaliers.
Larry Johnson, last season's rookie of the year, led Charlotte with 19 points. Johnny Newman added 17, Dell Curry 15, Kendall Gill 13, Tony Bennett 11 and Mike Gminski and Kevin Lynch 10 each.
The Cavaliers led 59-48 at halftime. The Hornets cut the lead to 94-86 after three quarters but got no closer. Cleveland went on a 9-0 run, with Brandon scoring four points, to go up 117-98 with 6:22 left and led by as much as 130-107 with 2:17 to play.
Cleveland had a 51-35 edge in rebounds. Daugherty, Ferry and Johnson each had eight.
