MADRAS, India (AP) _ Argentina's Guillermo Canas won the $400,000 TATA Open, ending the surprising run of Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan with a 6-4, 7-6 (2) victory in Sunday's final.

Srichaphan was not seeded and had eliminated two seeded players en route to his first final of an ATP Tour event.

The top-seeded Canas was shaky at the beginning of his previous matches. But he was in control early this time, breaking Srichaphan in the first and fifth games of the opening set.

Srichaphan was stronger in the second set. He broke serve in the sixth game to even the set and went on to force a tiebreaker, but Canas then had no trouble closing the match.
