Man indicted in fatal stabbing of Tennessee nurse
Aug. 09, 2017
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say that a man fatally stabbed a nurse inside her home and a Tennessee grand jury has brought murder charges against him.
Local news outlets report the Nashville grand jury on Friday issued an indictment charging 25-year-old Christopher McLawhorn with premeditated murder, felony murder, especially aggravated battery and two counts of theft.
Police say that on Feb. 28, McLawhorn randomly broke into 23-year-old Tiffany Ferguson's Nashville apartment and stabbed her to death. Ferguson had been a nurse at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
Two homeless men who knew McLawhorn, who was also homeless, helped identify him as a suspect. The men testified in court that McLawhorn had bragged about killing someone.
If found guilty, McLawhorn could face life in prison. He is represented by defense attorney Nick McGregor.
