Montpelier mayor not running for re-election

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The mayor of Vermont's capital city says he will not seek re-election and denies that he is interested in seeking higher office.
Montpelier Mayor John Hollar made the announcement Wednesday. He first took office in 2012 and is serving his third two-year term.
Hollar tells the Times Argus he may continue to be involved in public policy at the state or local level, but denies that he is interested in any other elected office.
Hollar says there is no particular reason behind his decision. He said, "These offices have a shelf life."
