Belle Sets White Sox Homer Record
Sep. 02, 1998
BALTIMORE (AP) _ Albert Belle set a club record for home runs in a season Tuesday night when he hit his 42nd for the Chicago White Sox in a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Belle hit an 0-1 pitch from Doug Drabek over the center-field wall in the fourth inning to break the franchise mark set by Frank Thomas in 1993. The solo shot was estimated at 393 feet.
The homer was his second in two games and the fourth in 10 games. Belle has already set the team record for extra-base hits in a season.
