SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ Notre Dame forward Ryan Humphrey will miss Wednesday night's game at Rutgers with a sprained ankle.

Humphrey, Notre Dame's second-leading scorer and top rebounder, injured his right ankle while blocking a 3-point shot in the closing seconds of a 69-66 victory over West Virginia on Sunday.

He is averaging 14.9 points and a team-high 9.3 rebounds, and has started all 21 games for Notre Dame (16-5, 8-2 Big East).

Humphrey is expected back in the lineup for Sunday's home game against Seton Hall.

Matt Carroll, who injured his back against West Virginia, also is expected to play despite making an obscene gesture to Mountaineers fans as he ran off the court Sunday.

Coach Mike Brey said he was disappointed with Carroll's reaction, but he didn't plan on cutting Carroll's playing time because of it.
