ATLANTA (AP) — A Georgia State University student faces rape and aggravated sodomy charges for an alleged on-campus rape.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports 18-year-old Onyekachi Precious Kenis was booked into jail Monday. He's accused of raping a woman June 11 at a campus housing facility.

Campus police Chief Joseph Spillane told the newspaper Kenis' arrest was delayed while authorities interviewed a witness.

Kenis was enrolled in the university's Summer Success Academy, a program that requires academically at-risk freshmen to attend a seven-week summer session before the start of fall classes.

The newspaper says Kenis has been removed from the program, but it's unclear if he is still enrolled at the university.

He remained in the Fulton County jail Friday. Kenis' public defender did not immediately respond to phone and email messages seeking comment.
