SEATTLE (AP) _ Expeditors International of Washington Inc. (EXPD) on Tuesday reported second-quarter profit of $140.6 million.

The Seattle-based company said it had profit of 79 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 78 cents per share.

The logistics services provider posted revenue of $1.96 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.95 billion.

Expeditors International shares have climbed 20 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased almost 7 percent. The stock has climbed 30 percent in the last 12 months.
