SYDNEY (AP) — Marc Janko's hat-trick of goals helped Sydney FC to a 5-4 win over Brisbane Roar on Sunday and into second spot in Australia's A-League.

The Austrian striker broke Besart Berisha's A-League record after scoring in a seventh consecutive match, converting two penalties and adding a second-half strike in a high-scoring game that featured five goals in the last 15 minutes.

In the process Janko lifted his personal tally to 16 goals this season, beating Italian great Alessandro del Piero's Sydney FC season record of 14.

Sydney FC, which is unbeaten in nine straight games, ended Brisbane's streak of five games without loss.

Henrique opened the scoring for Brisbane in the 5th minute but Sydney replied quickly via Mathew Jurman's goal.

Janko opened his account with a penalty in the 38th after Alex Brosque was brought down in the area, scored in the 52nd minute to extend the lead and added another penalty in the 76th minute.

In other matches in Round 21, league-leading Wellington improved to 39 points with a 2-1 win over Perth Glory, and Melbourne Victory overhauled Perth for third spot with a 3-0 win over Asian Champions League champions Western Sydney Wanderers.

Adelaide had a 2-1 win over Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City thrashed last-place Newcastle 4-0.
