VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) _ Eric Goebel threw four touchdown passes to lead Evansville past Valparaiso 41-35 on Saturday.

With Valparaiso (3-4 overall, 1-3 in the Pioneer League) leading 15-14 in the third quarter, Goebel reeled off three straight touchdown passes of 45, 60 and 18 yards to give Evansville (4-3, 2-2) a 35-15 lead in the fourth quarter.

Not to be outdone, Valparaiso's Jodie Hart scored on a 13-yard run and Nick Browder threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Eric Zodrow to close the gap to 35-28.

But Sean Bennett scored on a 40-yard run with less than two minutes left to put the game out of reach.

The two teams put up 776 yards on offense. For Evansville, Goebel finished the game 7 of 15 for 202 yards, while Bennett rushed for 140 yards on 24 carries. Valparaiso was led by Browder, who was 17 for 33 for 159 yards and was intercepted twice.
