Tennessee teacher felt 'pressured' in affair with principal
Sep. 01, 2018
DOVER, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee teacher has told investigators she carried on an affair with a former middle school principal despite feeling pressured and uncomfortable because she feared for her job.
The Leaf Chronicle reports the teacher at first told officials at the Stewart County School System she had an "emotional affair" with Stewart County Middle School Principal Andy Luton, but later said it involved physical contact.
Luton resigned Aug. 20. He told investigators the teacher pursued him by calling him and sending him text messages. He denied pressuring her and said she never told him she felt uncomfortable.
The interviews are included in documents the district released in response to a public records request.
