SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. announced Friday that it will lay off about 140 workers.

Jobs will be cut at the company's Salt Lake City headquarters, as well as in Orlando, Fla., and in the United Kingdom, said spokeswoman Joan Mitchell.

Those losing their jobs will be given a severance package and job placement services, the company said.

In September, two dozen jobs were cut at the company's headquarters, where between 500 and 600 employees work.

The company develops equipment and software systems that produce three-dimensional images. Its products include visual-simulation and training systems for defense and commercial customers.

Evans & Sutherland lost millions in the last quarter and has not been profitable since early 1999.
