DOVER, Del. (AP) _ Busch series points leader Jeff Green earned his first pole at Dover Downs International Speedway when rain Friday precluded qualifying for the MBNA Platinum 200.
Green has started second twice on The Monster Mile, most recently last September for the MBNA.com 200. He'll be seeking his first Dover victory Saturday in his 11th career start on the high-banked concrete oval.
Already a two-time winner this season, the defending series champion will go for his 13th victory in Busch competition. He took the points lead last week by winning at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Green got the pole because he leads Kevin Harvick by 19 points. They are in a four-way fight with rookie Greg Biffle and Green's teammate, defending race champion Jason Keller.
Because starting positions were awarded on the basis of points, Green's Ford will be flanked on the front row by the Chevrolet of Harvick. He won the pole for this race a year ago.
Biffle's Ford will go from the inside of the second row. Keller, a second-place finisher to Matt Kenseth last September, will start fourth in his Ford. Mike McLaughlin, who got the first six career victories by winning in at Dover 1995, will start fifth.
Jeff Purvis, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Raines, Kenseth and Mike Skinner complete the top 10 for the 43-car field.
Skinner, Harvick's Winston Cup teammate with Richard Childress Racing, set the Busch track qualifying record last September with a lap at 155.932 mph.
