FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ Arkansas named Roy Wittke quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Monday.
Wittke, 43, spent the past 13 seasons at Eastern Illinois serving as assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach. Last month, he was selected 2002 Division I-AA assistant coach of the year by the American Football Coaches Association .
``We are very excited to add Roy to our coaching staff,'' Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said. ``He certainly has excellent credentials and his track record speaks for itself. We have gotten to know him through our camps. He is an outstanding coach and a great recruiter. We are glad he is joining us.''
Wittke replaces David Lee, who was hired by Bill Parcells to be an offensive assistant for the Dallas Cowboys on Jan. 14.
Nutt also announced that offensive line coach Mike Markuson is now the running game coordinator. Markuson recently completed his fifth season at Arkansas as the Razorbacks' offensive line coach.
