Board puts Indiana veterinarian's license on probation

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A state veterinary board has put a northern Indiana veterinarian's license on probation for two years due to violations related to medications and surgical tools.
The South Bend Tribune reports the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, however, decided early Friday after a multi-day hearing that there wasn't enough evidence to find Jennifer Perusek guilty of animal cruelty or fraud.
The state's attorney general last year filed a civil complaint with the board. The complaint alleged Perusek routinely engaged in a pattern of kicking, hitting, slamming, dragging and choking animals from 2012 to 2016 and accused her of other violations.
Perusek in May closed her practice at Animal Clinic in Granger, but maintained her innocence. She testified in her own defense at the hearing, saying she received threats after the complaint.
