Home-school teacher sentenced on child molestation charge

MABLETON, Ga. (AP) — Prosecutors say a home-school teacher who molested a 12-year-old boy in Georgia has been sentenced to prison.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quotes a statement from the Cobb County District Attorney's office in a Wednesday report saying a judge sentenced 59-year-old David Peter Eidens to 19 years in prison and a year of probation. Prosecutors say Eidens had an arrangement with the boy's family to babysit and home-school him.
A warrant says the boy's father had discovered the abuse when he found his son getting dressed in a bed with Eidens. The boy told investigators he had been molested several times before.
Investigators also learned Eidens was convicted in Florida of "inappropriately touching an 11-year-old boy in the same manner" in 1984.
Eidens' sentence is the maximum for his one child molestation count.
