North Carolina-based snack-maker announces further job cuts
Jul. 26, 2017
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina-based snack company will lay off 250 employees by the end of this week.
The Charlotte Observer reports Snyder's-Lance CEO Brian Driscoll sent an email to employees Monday announcing a four percent workforce reduction. The move comes a week after the company confirmed it had cut 24 accounting jobs from its Charlotte headquarters and moved that work to Hanover, Pennsylvania.
A company spokesman said the layoffs apply to multiple locations, and would not confirm how many of the newly cut jobs were based in Charlotte.
The company has also appointed a new chief customer officer and says it plans to close a Florida chip-manufacturing plant in September.
The profitable company is positioning the cuts as part of a plan to help meet growth targets.
