Suspects Caught at Sheriff's Home
Nov. 09, 1998
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Two alleged drug dealers were captured while staying at the home of the sheriff, whose housekeeper had invited them over while her employer was away on vacation, investigators say.
The housekeeper, Dana Dickie, 41, was immediately fired and could face charges of harboring a fugitive.
Sheriff Jack Cottey, who was in Florida, ``feels betrayed and he's obviously upset,'' said Deputy Chief Russell A. Tuttle.
Acting on a tip, sheriff's deputies went to Cottey's house early Sunday looking for Nathan A. Bartlett, 22, and Brent C. Krout, 23.
Krout, who investigators said was Ms. Dickie's boyfriend, was wanted on marijuana charges. Bartlett was wanted on cocaine charges.
The sheriff had hired Ms. Dickie four years ago and she had no criminal record, Tuttle said.
