Dec. 19, 1995
GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) _ Police and members of the navy searched Tuesday for a light plane that crashed off the coast of Puerto Vallarta with four people aboard.
At least one passenger survived, according to the government news agency Notimex.
The regional deputy attorney general for Jalisco state, Gerardo Solis Gomez, said state police learned of the crash at 9:30 p.m. Monday and began to search for the single-engine, Mexican-registered Cessna 210.
They found Ubaldo Nava Carreon near the site of the crash.
He told them the motor failed after the plane took off from Puerto Vallarta airport and the plane fell into the Pacific Ocean about two miles offshore, Solis said.
The survivor said he managed to escape through a door but the others were trapped.
