EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state 22-year-old has pleaded guilty to shooting and killing one of his roommates.
The Everett Herald reports that Derrick Elijah Crawford entered his plea on Friday. Prosecutors have agreed to recommend a low-end punishment at sentencing, scheduled for March 19. Crawford faces anywhere from 14 years to more than 22 years in prison for second-degree murder.
Authorities say he acknowledged fatally shooting 27-year-old Joshua Werner in January.
Crawford fled the Edmonds residence after the shooting and evaded capture for about 10 days. He was arrested at a home in Everett, where he was hiding in a closet.
