CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) _ Juana Brown scored 21 points, including eight in the last five minutes, to lead 13th-ranked North Carolina to a 76-72 win against No. 17 Clemson on Wednesday.
LaQuanda Barksdale added 17 points and eight rebounds, and Yanick Clay finished with 12 points for the Tar Heels (22-4, 9-3 Atlantic Coast Conference).
Amy Geren and Itoro Umoh scored 23 points apiece for Clemson (17-5, 7-5). Nikki Blassingame had 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
North Carolina had the ball and a 65-64 lead with 2:55 to play when Brown tried a 3-pointer from the wing. One official ruled the ball was knocked out of bounds by the Tar Heels. But she was overruled by an outside official and the Heels kept the ball.
After the inbound pass, Brown sank a 3-pointer to give the Heels a 68-64 lead.
Clemson cut it to 74-72 with four seconds left on a 3-pointer by Geren. But North Carolina's Jessica Gaspar made two free throws to seal the victory.
Clemson was up 40-36 at halftime, but North Carolina went on a 13-6 run to take the lead at the 8:07 mark. The Lady Tigers' last lead was 58-57; the score was tied at 62 with 4:59 to play.
