DETROIT (AP) _ All-Star center Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers was suspended for two games by the NHL Sunday for high-sticking and cutting Petr Nedved of the New York Rangers.

Lindros sat out the Flyers' game Sunday at Detroit and will miss Tuesday's home game against Carolina. He can return Thursday at Nashville.

Nedved had three facial cuts after being hit by Lindros' stick during Philadelphia's 3-1 victory Saturday. Lindros was given a double-minor penalty.

``Mr. Lindros used his stick in a careless manner and an injury to Mr. Nedved resulted,'' Colin Campbell, NHL senior vice president and director of hockey operations, said.

The suspension will cost Lindros $86,458.33 in salary

Lindros leads the Flyers with 40 goals and 53 assists. His 93 points are second behind Pittsburgh's Jaromir Jagr in the NHL.
