BOSTON (AP)--Na'Sheema Hillmon and Paige Redman each scored 14 points, leading the Vanderbilt to a 63-60 win over Louisville in the first game of the Reebok Women's Basketball Classic Sunday.
Vanderbilt (1-0) had a 58-49 lead with 4:26 left on a jumper by Nettie Respondek. But Misty Smith, who led Louisville (0-1) with 15 points, hit a jumper with 22 seconds remaining that capped an 8-2 Cardinal run, cutting the Vanderbilt lead to 62-60.
Smith fouled Redman on Vanderbilt's next trip down court and she made the front end of a one-and-one. Smith took the final shot at the buzzer, but missed from inside the 3-point arc.
Sharon Bellemy had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Louisville.
