IPSWICH, S.D. (AP) — A Eureka man has been sentenced to two days in jail and fined $500 for driving 56 mph over the posted speed limit.

Edmunds County authorities say 39-year-old Micah Malsom was stopped last October for driving 121 mph in a 65 mph zone on state Highway 253.

The American News reports (http://bit.ly/2v3XPDt ) that Malsom was charged with speeding, reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol. He pleaded guilty in March to speeding and the other charges were dismissed.

State's Attorney Vaughn Beck says jail time is likely for any motorist caught driving more than 100 mph.
