Iran Says It Has Spying Evidence
Sep. 12, 1999
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) _ Iran has strong evidence that 13 Jews arrested in March are spies, a senior judge said in comments published Sunday.
Iran has come under international pressure to release the 13, who include a rabbi and several educators, who were arrested in March as spies for Israel and the United States.
But Gholamhossein Rahbarpour, head of Tehran's Revolutionary Courts, insisted, ``It is certain that these individuals were spies. There is no doubt about this.''
``The court has enough strong evidence and documents in this regard,'' Rahbarpour was quoted as saying in an interview with the hard-line Jomhuri Eslami daily.
The ``revolutionary courts have convinced all officials and there is no question or discussion about the accusations,'' Rahbarpour said.
