HONOLULU (AP) _ A Continental Airlines jet heading from Japan to Honolulu struck severe air turbulence Wednesday, injuring 13 passengers, some seriously.

The plane landed at Honolulu International Airport about three hours after Flight 910 encountered the turbulence, said Marilyn Kali of the state Department of Transportation. The flight was headed from New Tokyo International Airport at Narita.

Most of those injured were sitting in the back of the plane, Kali said.

Some of those hurt suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals, Kali said.

She had no other information about the injuries.
