CINCINNATI (AP) _ Cincinnati Reds right-hander Seth Etherton became a free agent Friday after he cleared waivers and refused a minor league assignment.

Etherton was 2-4 with a 6.90 ERA in seven starts for the Reds last season.

He spent 2001 and 2002 on the 60-day disabled list while recovering from arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs and repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder.
