Michigan officials seek public input on Milliken State Park
Apr. 09, 2018
DETROIT (AP) — Officials are seeking residents' thoughts on how to improve and what to add to Michigan's first urban state park.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources plans to hold the first of several public meetings to develop a master plan for Detroit's Milliken State Park and Harbor . The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday evening at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center.
The DNR seeks input on what makes the park different from other riverfront places, what works well, what new and expanded activities could be developed and how the park can connect to other places and neighborhoods.
DNR Parks and Recreation Division Chief Ron Olson says with renewed interest in the area, including expansion of the Detroit Riverwalk, officials seek help in creating what he calls "a relevant vision."
