ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Jesse Jackson reiterated his threat to take action against major league baseball if each team does not announce a plan for affirmative action.
''Just a new compilation of data will not resolve this dispute,'' Jackson told a group of reporters Sunday during an exhibition game between St. Louis and Baltimore. ''We want from each team a plan of goals and timetables to reverse this situation.
''If there is no plan, there will be direct action on opening day. By that I mean sponsorship pressure and picketing at major league ballparks. But we'd rather be in cooperation than in confrontation.''
