ROME, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is celebrating big state investments in efforts to revitalize downtowns around the state.
The Democrat traveled to central New York, the Hudson Valley, Long Island and the Bronx recently to tout the projects, which aim to attract residents, businesses and tourists.
Rome, Kingston, Hicksville and the South Bronx each won $10 million in Cuomo's downtown revitalization contest. They'll use the money to redesign streets and add pedestrian walkways, improve and expand parks and open space and make downtown areas more welcoming to new and existing businesses.
Cuomo said the projects will lead to more visitors, a more robust local economy, better transportation options and new investments in the downtown core.
