Raptors' Carter May Miss Next Game
Feb. 08, 2000
TORONTO (AP) _ All-Star forward Vince Carter has an injured finger and was questionable for the Toronto Raptors' game tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.
The high-flying Carter, who leads the Raptors in scoring with a 24.1-point average, hurt the middle finger of his left hand while working out with weights after Monday's practice. Carter was taken to the hospital, where X-rays revealed no fracture.
He needed three stitches to close a small cut on the finger.
``There are a lot worse injuries than that,'' Raptors general manager Glen Grunwald said. ``Hopefully Vince will be able to play with it.''
The team said it expected Carter to play in Sunday's NBA All-Star game in Oakland, Calif.
Carter, the NBA's rookie of the year last season, received a league-leading 1.9 million fan votes out of the more than 3.9 million cast to become the first Toronto player selected to play in the game.
