Arraignment on murder charge done at hospital

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — An 85-year-old Fargo man accused of shooting and killing his wife during an alleged double suicide pact has been arraigned in his hospital room.
Louis Averson is being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, so his arraignment took place at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo Tuesday. Prosecutors say fatally shot his 85-year-old wife, Ila Averson, after both tried to die by carbon monoxide poisoning in their garage last Friday.
Louis Averson says his wife was in poor health, so they decided to take their own lives. Anderson is charged with felony murder with intention.
Averson told Judge Frank Racek to do "whatever you gotta do" because he wasn't going anywhere.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled July 11.
