MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ T. Allan McArtor, former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration , will return to Federal Express Corp. as senior vice president of air operations, company officials said.

McArtor will assume his duties March 1. He succeeds James Riedmeyer, who is retiring, officials said Wednesday.

In 1987, McArtor left Federal Express to become administrator of the FAA.

He joined Memphis-based Federal Express in 1979 as vice-president of systems operations and has served in other positions, including senior vice president of telecommunications.

McArtor is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and obtained a master's degree in engineering from Arizona State University.
