Businesses work around Route 7 construction
Aug. 07, 2018
BRANDON, Vt. (AP) — Businesses in Brandon, Vermont say they are starting to see customers return during a construction project on Route 7.
The Rutland Herald reports the construction is replacing a sharp right turn with a curved road and it is adding more parking spaces.
Manager at Blue Moon clothing Allie Walter says many locals avoided the area when construction started, but traffic now isn't too bad.
Chef Robert Barral at Cafe Provence says they have started closing Mondays due to the construction, but they still have dedicated customers who make sure to show their support.
Brandon House of Pizza owner Sheila Gearwar says while both the townspeople and businesses have been affected, "this has to be done."
The $21 million project is expected to be complete in November 2019.
