DOVER, Del. (AP) _ Terence Hood scored 26 points, with Reggie Stevens and Albert White each adding 20, to lead Delaware State 91-82 over Washington College Sunday in the season opener for both teams.

Besides scoring, the three Hornets players grabbed 10 of the team's 36 rebounds. Hood and Stevens each blocked two shots.

The Hornets shot 66 percent in the first half and went on a 15-4 run to end the half, to lead 50-38. Brad Burkhart pulled the Shoremen to within 72-67 with a three-point shot at 6:07 left in the game.

But Hood sealed the victory with four free throws in the final 36 seconds.

Burkhart the Shoremen with 27 points. He also had five rebounds and Steve DeVore grabbed seven rebounds off the bench. Ben Harris had 18 points, by going 11 for 12 at the line, and Corey Davis contributed 12 points.

Jimmy Dubose appeared in his first game as Hornets coach, after three years as the team's top assistant.
